Why should we write?

Why Write?

After a class on Christian Writing, I asked my teacher, “Why should we write?”  “Why shouldn’t we write?” was the prompt answer. He asked me questions such as; who are we? Why are we here? I was not satisfied by the answers he put as questions which I could not answer them. So I told my teacher that I want my question to be answered and not to be questioned back. He was humble enough to give me some reasons why we should write.

Do you think writing is still as important as it was two decades before? (By writing we mean putting our thoughts and ideas into words so that others can read, not necessarily with pen and paper.) Do you think we can do away with writing? Without any form of writing life would be no different from the prehistoric age where there was no written record. Are we too advanced that we should go back to the prehistoric age? We cannot do away with writing because writing was the beginning of our modern intellectual civilization. Without writing the world would not be as it is today.

We should write because our God is a writer. He wrote the Ten Commandments by his own fingers. The Holy Spirit is the Author of the Bible (Using His chosen ones). If God Himself writes we can’t deny the importance of writing.  We should write as we can put our ideas and thoughts best in words. We should write because our knowledge can be transferred to the greatest extend in written form.  We should write because we cannot read this write up if it was not written. :)

The written word is the strongest source of power in the entire universe. - Gary Halbert.
