Why Am I Lazy?
Why am I lazy?
Have you ever asked yourself the above question? If yes, you are willing to enhance yourself and you are just about to equip yourself more. As the new year comes, many of us have new year resolutions, which most of us will not be able to accomplish. We cannot execute our resolutions fully because of our great enemy called Laziness. Some may be ever busy yet still lazy. Busyness is not opposite to laziness. We are busy because we are lazy to do prior proper plan. Let us discuss the causes of laziness and how to disdain from it.
Laziness, to me, is mainly due to two reasons:
- Negativity
- Unmotivated mind.
Negativity: Pessimists see obstacles in every work. The sluggard says, “There’s a lion outside! I’ll be killed in the public square!"* This makes them lazy. When we can't see any positive results why should we work?
Unmotivated mind: To perform a task effectively we need something to stimulate us. If you are not motivated to do a work, you are likely to procrastinate. Procrastination is the commonest response to laziness.
Negative and unmotivated mind makes us not only unproductive, but it also affects our health. Back pain, diabetes, depression are some ill effects that can be expected from a lazy and mundane person. When we cannot perform our task effectively, we become unreliable and untrustworthy. What then shall we do to be optimistic and motivated?
First, we should train our mind to be positive. In every situation of our lives there are two options to respond: Negative or Positive. The way you respond thing has a big consequence in your life. A single negative thought is enough to spoil your day, likewise a single positive attitude can make your day.
And Love is a choice. You can choose to love your work, if you are not doing what you love. But first it's important to do what we love. In life we can’t always do what we love, so at times, we need to choose to love our work. Study shows that those who love their work are more productive and successful in their life than those who don't. You can love your work if you choose to.
If you have a positive attitude about your work and love what you do, you will be motivated to work more and become successful. That, I think is the best way to avoid laziness.
In saying this, rest is as important as work. Over-work and busy-all-the-time can be as deadly as laziness. Be wise.
Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
