Why do we like music?

Why Everyone likes Music?

Music is like magic to our soul. Everyone likes music and many love it. One may not like heavy metallic or rock music but he/she will certainly like other genre of music, may be classical or jazz. Every nation has National anthem and music is attached to every culture and folklore. Music is one common ground where everyone on earth can stand together.  It does not differentiate caste, creed, colour religion or nation. But why do we like music? Are our genes designed to like music?

If you are asked to answer why you like music ; you may say:  ‘It makes me happy’, ‘I feel good when I listen,’ or ‘it expresses my feelings which I could not’ and so on. But could something as abstract as music provoke such emotions and feeling? Is there any scientific reason? Studies shows that our brain releases a chemical call dopamine, when we listen to music, which in turn makes us happy. Typically, our brain releases this chemical when our body perform activities which are essential for our survival (like sex or eating). It is said dopamine is released strongest when a piece of music reaches an emotional peek and the listener chills- feeling of excitement and awe. That’s for today. Thank you.

Why do we feel cold?

Why do we feel cold in Winter?

If your answer is, “because of the low temperature.” You are right but I want you to think deeper and reason more. Why don’t our body adjust and stay normal though the temperature of the environment may change. Hundreds of poor people die every winter due to the extreme cold. Can there be a way our body can adjust with the temperature of our environment so that we need no much warm clothes to fight the winter? Well, that’s another question.
Yes, it is cold due the decrease in the temperature of the environment. But should we necessarily feel cold? The normal temperature of our body is 37 degree Celsius or 98.6 degree Fahrenheit. Our body is always in direct contact with the environment around us, so the change in the environment directly effect our body. When the temperature of the environment is lower than our body temperature, our body transfers heat to the environment which results to the decrease of our body temperature.  And our body does not transfer our blood towards our skin, it keeps it slightly below the skin so that the warm blood is available for other important organs inside the body. This results the fall of temperature of the skin, and give a sense of feeling cold. Thus the skin become dry. This process is called Vasoconstriction, which is the narrowing of the vessels. Further falling of temperature will result in shivering of body producing mechanical vibration to generate heat in order to cut down the loss of heat from our body. That is the answer of “Why we shiver when w feel too cold?” That’s a bonus question for today. Thanks for reading.

Why WHY is important?

Why WHY is important?

“WHY” can make someone uncomfortable, irritate or dislike the questioner. This question makes us think deeper and better. Other questions viz. who? Answers person; when? Answers time; where? Answers place; how? Answers the process of things done; however, WHY? Answers the reason, the cause and the purpose. This question is important because it makes us reason and think more than any other questions do in general.

Newton might have never discovered the gravity of the earth if he had not asked the question WHY to the simple falling apple, which was obvious. The simple three-letter word can change your perspective if you start asking to the simple and obvious things around you. You will be amazed to discover certain things which are not necessarily right just because they are taken into granted.

You might become less judgemental if you ask WHY to some people whom you detest. I believe everything on earth has reason and purpose. Some of the things are not rightly done or used according to the purpose just because we never ask WHY?
So I have decided to ask a WHY per day to make myself better knowledge of the things around me. You can follow me with this journey.

Why am I taking this decision? I am inspired by a story of a little girl posted in Facebook by NAS DAILY. The little girl asked her mother why she cut the head and tail of the fish before cooking. The mother didn’t know the reason. When the little girl asked her great grandmother, she told her that she used to cut the head and tail of the fish before cooking because her pot was small and it could not fit the fish.
I believe there will be many things we take into granted just because we don’t know the reason! So I started this journey. By the way, my first question was why WHY is important?
